The Castle Rock School District is required by Section 99.37 of the Federal Regulations titled Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to provide parents and eligible students annual notification of their FERPA rights. If the parents or eligible students have a primary or home language other than English, the District will effectively notify them of their rights under this Section. Parents and eligible students will be notified of their FERPA rights annually by publication in the local newspaper at the beginning of each school year.

The parent or eligible student has the right to:

  1. Inspect and review student' s education records,
  2. Request an amendment of the student' s education records to ensure that they are not inaccurate, misleading or otherwise in violation of the student' s privacy rights,
  3. Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student' s education records except to the extent that the Act and the Regulations in this part authorize disclosures with consent,
  4. File with the U.S. Department of Education a complaint under Section 99.64 concerning alleged failures by the agency to comply with the requirements of the act and this part,
  5. Obtain a copy of the policy adopted under Section 99.6. A copy of this policy is available by request at the Castle Rock School District Administration Office located at 600 Huntington Avenue South, Castle Rock WA 98611.

This notice is intended to comply with the applicable requirements in 34CFR part 300, 34 CR Part 99 and WAC 392-172-404.
